The new Salvador Dali Museum will be opened in 1/11/11


The new Salvador Dali Museum will open its doors in St. Petersburg, Florida, on the exact date (and time) of 11 January 2011, 11/01/11, at 11:11 with a grand opening ceremony which will also be accompanied by His Highness Royal princess Cristina of Spain as the guest of honor.

In 1982, St. Petersburg, Florida, which offers financial support to a collector and industrial Reynolds Morse and Eleanor Reese his wife to house his impressive collection and the museum now has more masterpieces than any other Dali museum in the world and also the largest collection outside Spain.

The museum is visited by over 200,000 people a year who contribute an estimated $ 50 million to the economy of St. Petersburg. The museum has an impressive $ 36 million new building with a futuristic design that will double the current space of 66.450 square feet of museum.

The construction of this innovative building was launched in December 2008 and the end result in absolutely beautiful. The roof is 12 inches thick of solid concrete, the walls are 18 inches and the building can withstand a category five hurricane.

That should be enough to protect the valuable collection of Salvador Dali paintings with 2.140, including 96 oil paintings.
